If you want to become a successful Internet Marketer then making the best use of your blog is paramount. You will be using your blog to build your brand and make money. Here, David Walker discusses five ways you should use your blog effectively.
1) Provide Value
Every blog post doesn't have to revolve around you trying to make money online and selling, selling, selling! If it does, your readers will probably get wind of it pretty quickly and decide not to keep coming back. Write posts that provide genuine value to your readers, for free. After providing plenty of value, when you do decide to promote affiliate software or your own product, you're readers will trust your recommendation or product much more.
2) Update Frequently
If you can update your blog frequently then you should try to develop a pattern of updating, for example every second or third day at the same time. This encourages visitors to come back on update days. Search Engines also appreciate frequently updated content.
3) Interact With Your Readers
Blogs come with the functionality of enabling readers to post comments. This means that you can effectively engage in a conversation with your visitors about each particular post. Of course this interaction will encourage visitors to come back and also enhance your reputation with them that you're willing to correspond with them.
4) Get Feedback From Readers
As well as general interaction with your readers, you should also try to obtain feedback from them. Feedback from your readers can be invaluable for your business. By obtaining feedback you get an idea for what is bringing visitors back to the blog, what they like and what they dislike.
5) Use the Blog to Build Your Mailing List
Some people say the money is in the list, others say the money is in the relationship with the list. Whatever you believe, the common denominator is that you need a mailing list. You should use your blog to entice readers to subscribe to your list in return for a free gift such as a report, tutorial video or interview. If you are in the internet marketing niche you can maintain a list of the most recent JV Giveaways on your blog which will further grow your subscriber base.

This is a great guest post! I am interested in writing one for this blog. I will be sure to email you about doing it.
I am trying to do #4 but I only get about 10 visits a day to my blog and only 1 out of every 100 leave a comment.
What can I do David?

Hey Brian, glad you let David post on your blog, he really does know his stuff when it comes to blogging.
I get a lot of comments on my blog, I think it's mainly down to having a do-follow plugin and the com luv plugin, so I advise anyone to make sure they have them.
When bloggers get links back to their last blog post, it really does encourage them to leave a comment.
Sally :)
