It says a lot when your blog visitors comment on your posts. It's telling you that you have somehow caught that persons attention with your words, enough to make them respond to whatever you have said.
Not to mention that you are building more of a relationship with your readers when you respond to those comments. This will also help to gain more loyal followers.
When visitors come to your blog and see that a lot of people are leaving comments, it tells them that your blog must be important; why else would anyone take the time to write a response.
Recently I came up with a great new way to get readers to leave more comments on your blog. At the same time it will give you new topic to write about every week.
How To Get More Readers To Comment:
- The first thing you need to do is... Write a post to let your readers know that once a week you will choose one comment or question to write a post about and that you will mention that person and their blog/website in your post.
This will...
- Give you a great new topic to blog about every week.
- Give your readers a good incentive to leave a well thought-out question or comment for you on your blog.
Then every so often, if the comments start slowing down, just re-post the post that you had written about choosing one comment or question to blog about every week.
If your blog has a steady flow of visitors you should see a huge spike in the amount of comments that are left by your readers.
How many visitors does your blog receive every month?

great deal with the blog comments and write about the blog article at the comments on the weekly basis.
More than the article and the topic you have chosen, I like the last part - "How many visitors does your blog receive every month?"
This question made me leave a comment :) It's only been month and a half that I have become blogging actively. And as per Google Analytics, my blog has had approx 400+ with 850+ visitors during this period.
I am not sure if these are great numbers because there are hardly any comments from the readers and it's not encouraging.

Hey Wadhwa,
It sounds like you are on the right track. The important thing is that you are getting visitors. You should also try asking a question at the end of your blog posts.
I hope to see you back often.
Thanks,

Great tips for increasing visiting comments, thanks! I also usually end my posts with something I'd like people to share and let them know they can comment.
