Having the right keywords for your blog is essential to building a good blog. When you use the right keywords for your blog, you have the potential to get a lot more traffic from the search engines.
Keywords are the words that people will use to find your blog in search engines like Google. So it's important that you get found for the right ones. If you are using a lot of keywords on your blog that people never search for, your blog won't get much traffic to it.
Finding The Right Keywords
To make sure that you are using the best keywords for your blogs topic, you want to go and use a keyword tool to find them. I prefer to use the Google Adwords Keyword Tool, it's free and it tells you how many searches are done for a certain keyword every month.
All you have to do is, go to adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal and type in your blog's topic. The Google Adwords Keyword Tool will then suggest keywords for you to use.
Then, after you find the keywords and phrases that get a good amount of searches each month, you want to include those keywords in your blog posts.
Make sure that you don't over do it. If you use a keyword so many times in your post that it doesn't sound natural, re-write it, because the search engines will know. It's called "keyword stuffing" and Google can spot this from a mile away.
You want to write just like you were having a normal conversation with somebody. Read your post as you write it and if it doesn't sound right, fix it. Also, make sure that you spell the keywords correctly too. If the keywords aren't spelled right, your blog won't show up in the search engines for that certain keyword.
How do you find your keywords? Let me know in a comment.
