Treat your blog, like you would any other business or franchise.
When a person starts a business or buys into a franchise, they usually take it very seriously, because they have invested a lot money into getting it started.
Because most people start a blog for little or no money, they don't think of it like a business, although they should. Try to treat your blog like you've invested a lot of money into it. After all blogging does take time, and time is money.
If you really do want to have a successful blog, you need to dedicate yourself to building it. In the beginning you will have to work hard at it, and you won't be getting a paycheck at the end of every week like you would with a regular 9 to 5 job.
When you are building your list and gaining followers, you will make little to no money at all. But this is usually just temporary, if you really apply yourself and try to learn everything that you can about becoming a pro-blogger, the money will come. You just have to be patient.
Then after you have established yourself and your blog, you won't have to try as hard to make money, you just have to be smart about how you do it.
Remember, if your blog doesn't take off right away, and it probably won't, don't give up. You have to keep at it. Make sure that your using good SEO, (Search Engine Optimization) and listen to the pro-bloggers out there. Don't be afraid to take advice. I have been at this a little while now and I continue to learn something new almost daily.
