To build a great blog you need to have loyal readers following you. The only way to do this, is by being able to write a half-way decent blog post, and to put a little bit of yourself into what you write.To gain those loyal followers, you have to let them feel like they're getting to know you. Try to put a little bit of your personality into your posts. You want your readers to feel like they are reading something that was written for them personal.
I have found that the best way to do this is, to write like you would talk. Kind of like I am right now. If the people that are reading your blog feel a connection with you, they will have no problem coming back week after week to read your latest article. Those are the types of followers that we all want to have.
How to be more personal in your posts...
The next time you write a blog post, throw in a few personal details about yourself. But not too personal, don't give out your social security number or anything like that, but mention some of your interests or something that you wouldn't normally disclose to your readers.
For example, my profile tells everyone who visits my blog my first and last name, that I have been blogging for about 2 years now, and I also mention how many websites and blogs that I have. I will sometimes even mention my wife and kids in my blog posts if it fits into what I am talking about.
Give it a try and see what happens. Who knows, you might gain some loyal followers out of it.
