Reward yourself!
That's right reward yourself, the size of it shouldn't make no difference - I mean, at least you've got one at all, right. Now just so I know that we're on the same page - what did you think I was talking about?
That's right - I was talking about checks.
So just in case you didn't catch that the first time, let me rephrase that for you - what are you supposed to do when you have a small check? You should celebrate. It doesn't really matter who it's from, you need to reward yourself for any amount of money that you make as a blogger. Especially in the beginning.
Whether it's 50 dollars from Clickbank or 150 from Google, it's all money that you have made doing what it is that you like to do - blogging. The important thing is that you reward yourself, even for those smaller accomplishments.
Why it's so important to reward yourself:
Like me, there are a lot of people out there who are on a journey to become successful full-time bloggers. Back in 2008 when I first started blogging, my wife thought I was crazy for thinking that I could make money online. And for a while I started thinking that maybe she was right.
See, I first started blogging as a way to drive traffic to my websites, which I had built to promote affiliate products. However, that's when I found out that I really enjoyed blogging, so I decided to focus more on my blog.
Of coarse every blogger knows that the money doesn't start pouring in from your first blog post. Usually, after monetizing your blog, you will sit and watch your Google AdSense account slowly grow. Maybe you'll even sell an affiliate product here and there.
But it just isn't money until you get that check in the mail. Most programs online will make you earn a minimum dollar amount before they will send you a check. Google won't send you one until your account hits at least $100.
Sure, these days $100 might not be a lot, but if you can earn $100 - you can earn $1000. Believe me, if you keep producing good content, stay up to date on SEO, and build a relationship with your readers, the checks will get bigger.
Sure everyone wants to be able to say that they have a big one, a big check that is. But you need to be happy with the one you've got now. Make sure to reward yourself for working hard. It doesn't need to be anything outrages - if you get a $100 check in the mail, have a movie night. Go get some popcorn, rent a movie, and watch it with your wife/husband.
As your checks get bigger, so should the rewards.
How much was your first check?
