I was downstairs in the casino today and it got me thinking...
Starting a blog is a lot like gambling
When you start a new blog you are basically betting all of the time that you put into it that's it's going to be a winner. Just like in roulette, you put your money on a number hoping that it hits.
And like most games that you play in a casino, there are strategies that you can use to push the odds more in your favor. For your blog there are things like SEO, producing good content, blog marketing, keyword research, and much more.
In a casino you are more likely to bet on a good hand of cards. The same thing applies to your blog, if you have a great niche topic that hasn't been over-saturated by other bloggers, you're probably going to invest more time into that blog.
I also think this is the reason that some people abandon their blog within the first couple of months. People generally believe that after writing a few blog posts and monetizing their blog with Google AdSense they should be able to become a full-time blogger. But as most of us bloggers know, it's just not that simple!
However if you are willing to put some time and energy into your new blog, overtime it will become less of a gamble. Plus if you play your cards right you just might win the pot.
